We're entering our 16th year homeschooling. We've graduated 4 older kids and are now only homeschooling our two 'babies', ages 16 and 13.
My kids are a little behind in some subjects due to a house fire a few years ago. But, no worries here.... learning is a lifelong journey!
Let's start with Christian. He'll start the 8th grade this year.
Scripture Study: The Book of Mormon Made Easier (If you're LDS, you might enjoy using these Book of Mormon Character Notebooking Pages)
Science: Rainbow Science (he's completing the second half)
History: Mystery of History Vol. 1 & Heritage History
Geography: WonderMaps - Which will work for any history or geography but was made especially for Mystery of History and All American History. If you're interested, I'd encourage you to learn more by watching this video - it's a great product!
Vocabulary: Vocabulary Vine
Spelling: Sequential Spelling
Grammar: Easy Grammar Plus
Literature: Most his reading will come from Heritage History but we're putting together a list of fictional books as well.
Physical Education: Karate
Music: Piano Lessons
Now moving on to Melanie. She's beginning the 11th grade.
Scripture Study: The Book of Mormon Made Easier (If you're LDS, you might enjoy using these Book of Mormon Character Notebooking Pages)
Science: Apologia Chemistry
Government: American Government and US Constitution Part 2
Writing/English: community college
Humanities: community college
Foreign Language: community college
Physical Education: Karate
Music: Voice and Piano Lessons (She's also beginning to teach both voice and piano this year)
See how excited they are to start school!! They couldn't be more thrilled about it :) |

I love seeing these posts of homeschoolers further down the road than we are! I can't imagine the day when I have only older ones left...LOL. We just hit our first middle schooler! It looks like a good year for your last two.
I shared our plans for the seven kiddos here: http://ourbusyhomeschool.blogspot.com/2012/08/curriculum-for-seven-kids-2012-2013.html
We love Mystery of History and Apologia!!! I hope you have a fantastic year (found you on the blog hop!)
Hi, Betsy! my two oldest boys used Apologia Chemistry last year. I love Apologia- with the exception of that book. My oldest son ended up dropping out, as did a friend who was doing it with them. My other son struggled to finish, though he is advanced in math & sciences. I absolutely hated it and plan to sell my copy as soon as I can track down the test & answer book. I hope it goes better for you. But if your daughter struggles with it, it is probably not the studnt. ;-)~Melissa
Melissa, do you have another suggestion? She isn't fantastic at math or science. So if your son struggled she's most likely going really have a very hard time. My older kids all took Chemistry in college instead but she thought she might do better taking it at home first. Oh dear, maybe I need to rethink this one for her. Thanks for letting me know!
